What is malignant mesothelioma?
Malignant mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer each year, about 3,000 people are diagnosed with the disease. Violations of the disease is usually in the chest and lung lining on the surface layer of the film - the pleura, or violations of the lining of the abdominal cavity in a film - peritoneum. Very few cases, violations will be enveloping the heart of a film - pericardium.
Most of malignant mesothelioma is caused by asbestos exposure. Asbestos is used in many industrial products of natural minerals. A small number of patients with access to inorganic silicate (zeolite), or with the use of the 60’s to help the blood vessels in the X-ray image of a stain (thorium dioxide). Very few patients could not reason.
Asbestos exposure time, or come into contact with high concentrations of asbestos (the asbestos exposure, even if not long) are easily lead to the occurrence of malignant mesothelioma. Usually 15 years after asbestos exposure (typically 20-40 years) before onset. The diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma for people aged 50-70 years old. Male than female patients, probably because more men in the use of asbestos in the work of the industry.
Malignant mesothelioma are 3 categories: epithelioid malignant mesothelioma (the most common), sarcomatoid malignant mesothelioma and mixed malignant mesothelioma.
Symptoms
90% have been diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma patients is the first symptom of chest pain or shortness of breath. These symptoms may be caused by the tumor itself, because the tumor cells to stimulate tissue in the vicinity of the nerve cells (which cause pain), there may be caused by pleural fluid. In the pleural fluid accumulation is called the pleura (cavity) fluid. Abdominal malignant mesothelioma have abdominal pain, ascites, and other symptoms. Other possible symptoms are cough, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and so on.
